Child Dedication

A Child Dedication service is an opportunity for parents to publicly declare their intent to raise their child in a way that honors God. In many ways a child dedication service is truly a “parent dedication” service, as parents publicly declare to raise their child in the faith until the child is old enough to make his or her own personal confession of Christ. It’s also a time for family, friends and the church body here at Discovery to say we will partner with you, as best we can, to see that this takes place.

We will set aside time in both services on Mother’s Day {May 13th} and Father’s Day {June 17th} for Child Dedications. To sign up to participate, you can use the form below.

Baptism & Brunch

On April 22nd we’ll celebrate new life with a baptism service followed by brunch. If you have made the decision to put your faith in Jesus Christ then your next step is to be baptized. Baptism is simply the public profession of your inward commitment to follow Jesus. To celebrate we will have brunch together following each service, everyone is welcome. Please join us!

Who will you invite?

Invitations are a pretty cool thing. I can still remember being a child and receiving an invitation to a friend’s party. It was the best feeling. So much excitement, anticipation, and that feeling of being included. I can also remember the anxiety and angst associated with not being invited.

In all honesty, not a lot has changed, I still get those same feelings today. Like most people, I like to get invited to things, especially important things.

As we prepare to celebrate Easter, where we will rejoice together that the tomb is empty, we have been given the opportunity to invite others to the party. Easter is the biggest event on our church calendar because it is the biggest event in history. Why not invite someone to join you on Easter?

You have a few good reasons. First, as we’ve already established, people like to be invited. Secondly, many people still feel a sense of obligation to attend church on Easter and/or Christmas. By inviting them, you are helping them by finding a convenient place to go. However, the real motivator is Jesus. He is worthy! So as we approach Easter, we would like everyone to invite someone to join us. Invite a family, neighbor, colleague, friend, or family member who needs to hear the good news of Jesus. Remember, as a church, we exist not for ourselves, but for those who are not here yet. Let’s make sure that as many people as possible get an invitation.

Chances are at some point, someone invited you to hear the gospel and it forever changed your life. Whose life will your invitation change?
