Discovery's All In - July 2020

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” Genesis 12:1

In the twilight years of Abram’s life, God gives Abram a blessing and a mission: “Go…”

I know - “Go” sometimes doesn’t feel like a blessing. Every “Go” requires change, saying good-bye, and even some tears. “Go” will require familiarity with the unknown, as we leave everything that was comfortable, familiar, safe.

Yet, on the other side of “Go” is a holy space where God meets us, uses us, grows us...and blesses us!

Today, God is calling us to boldly “Go.”

Jesus People everywhere are standing in opportunities to press into the holy space of the unknown. What we have grown comfortable and familiar with is changing - and this will be for the good.

Discovery has specifically prayed to be a church that multiplies leaders, groups, and campuses. It seems one good outcome from this challenging season is God moving us to now multiply!

It’s in these next few weeks that we will take intentional steps into these prayers. We will multiply into three campuses:

  • A Digital Campus -- our Livestream weekend experience
  • A Tacoma Pop-Up -- Bethlehem Lutheran Church
  • A Puyallup Pop-Up -- The Fruitland Grange

While it will be exciting, it will also be different. Mistakes will happen, and at times it will feel awkward. But God is there already, inviting us into the adventure with Him.

So let's Go!

Let's go together!

Let's go with joy, hope, and faith. And mostly, Let's go and never, ever quit!

Pastor Jon

Join us in prayer & thanksgiving as we welcome two new Church Planting residences to our team. Jesse Holcomb & Brad Detering.

Jesse Holcomb currently serves as a Church Planter in residence at Discovery, as well as our Tacoma Pop-Up Campus Lead. Jesse has been mentored by Pastor Jon since March and is learning so much from his leadership. Jesse and his wife Stefanie have served the local church in Pierce County over the past ten years as Children’s Pastors and then as teaching pastors. They are passionate about people and seeing them come into the fullness of their giftings and passions.

Brad Detering has been attending Discovery Community Church since the end of 2019. He has served in various ministries over the past 15 years. For the past year he and his wife Monika, served as youth pastors at Cornerstone Community Church in Graham. Now, Brad is stepping into a leadership position with Discovery as the Tacoma Pop-Up campus Worship Leader. Worship is where Brad’s faith and love for Christ was first founded. It has now become one of his greatest passions. His favorite part of worship is watching as people come to their personal realization of Gods love for them.

When we are generous with our resources, we become active participants in leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Whether it’s in Pierce County or around the world -- your gifts make it possible for more people to hear about Jesus! Will you prayerfully consider giving financially to God's multiplying, mosaic movement today? In order to make these Pop-ups a reality, we will need to raise another $10,000 in support.

We are inviting everyone to be a part of this mission. Together, we can reach this goal.

Some suggested giving options, include:

  • $100 one time or pledge of $20/month
  • $250 one time or pledge of $50/month
  • $500 one time or pledge of $100/month
  • $1,000 one time or pledge of $200/month
  • $2,500 one time or pledge of $500/month

We invite you to give any amount that the Lord may place on your heart.

Yes, I'd like to give today!
