Uncomfortable yet?

December 4th, 2014 | Jon Fredricks

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light before them
and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do;
I will not forsake them.  Isaiah 42:16

It’s hard for me to imagine being blind – but being blind and in unfamiliar places? How incredibly uncomfortable? That is unless you have a trusted advisor – a seasoned guide. What is so interesting to me in Is 42, God promises to lead us into places that we have not known. A few weeks ago I heard Jon Kitna speak at a banquet. Jon quoted a mentor who said people who do great things need to “get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

Being in the middle of God’s amazing mission will often mean being led by Him away from the comfort of the easy, known, and familiar.  It is simply how God always works.  But there in the uncomfortable, the unfamiliar is light – the very presence of the Father.  May we too get comfortable with the uncomfortable!
